Advertising online can be done in a wide variety of ways; intrusive pop up ads and social media advertising are just some of the many mediums available for people to use.

when it comes to banners, while they may be the most annoying thing on the internet, they also manage to get your attention. In most cases a company or the banner owner will make money just from people clicking on the ad which makes having one on a website a great option. In most cases banner ads relate to the website that the person is looking at, for instance if one was a on gaming website they would have ads relevant to games, game consoles etc. There are the cases where the ads have nothing to do with the website like the example to the right.

The best way to advertise online in my opinion is through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc. Companies use these platforms to advertise & market their products like crazy. Each of those websites have hundreds of millions active users, that's a wide audience for companies and they definitely aren't going to pass up an opportunity to bring awareness to themselves with such a wide crowd.

of course there are many more like the annoying pop ups we deal with on a daily basis.














and don't forget about floating ads that usually shows itself when one is trying to do something in a hurry.
